Hi there, I’m Beans! It’s so nice to have you here.

I am a twenty-something year old gal living in Southern California, navigating a journey of financial independence, anti-consumerism, intentional and simple living, and working in academia. I value honesty, transparency, and vulnerability when I share content on my public platforms; therefore, my experiences and thoughts are incredibly personal to me and a result of my upbringing and environment, but never fabricated or over-exaggerated.

A little about me: I go through extreme lifestyle cycles every few months, and all are within the self-care, cleaning, capsule wardrobe, or sustainability topic areas. I rarely stray far from my values, and appreciate people who do the same. I don’t always expect people to agree with me, but rather than uncalled for, disrespectful dissent, I love a mature and collected debate (e.g., tell me why you think Taylor Swift is the worst person on the planet and I’ll argue back). I am an avid bookworm, though I’m in my romance novel era. My favorite authors include B.K. Borrison, Emily Henry, Ashley Poston, and Jessica Joyce. When I love something, I really love something. There’s not really an in-between. My goal is to be a trifecta of sorts — a university professor, a principal investigator of a reserach lab, and a licensed clinical psychologist. I have big goals and dreams for myself, and always encourage others to do the same. I drink coffee, but only oat milk lattes with some sort of sweetener (vanilla is usually my go-to). I don’t have many friends, mainly because most people annoy me with their toxicity and penchant for gossip — I enjoy living a drama-free life. I’m currently going through a wardrobe “crisis” and can’t seem to figure out my personal style despite having a small wardrobe. I hate jeans (I haven’t worn a pair since high school which was in 2015), and refuse to wear pants that make it painful to breathe. I get air/carsick very easily, which is why the passenger princess role is not meant for my nausea. I heavily dislike people who complain about their problems in life without having a plan to do something about it. I love receiving and sending voice notes. I’m currently sober, as even a shot of soju will make me hungover the next day.

You will find that this newsletter is an amalgamation of everything that defines me as a person; whether it be the exciting financial or professional achievements that I want to share, or the sadness and emotional turmoil as a result of a heartbreak or loss of a loved one, this newsletter will contain snippets of my life, advice that I feel qualified to give, and on occasion, guest or collaborative posts with your favorite Instagram accounts, or even responses taken from the Beans community.

Some of my posts are paywalled, simply because writing each newsletter takes a lot of time. I am confident my work has value to many, so to those who can afford supporting my writing journey, I’m doing it for you. My report cards (very personal musings about how my month has gone), eco entries (documenting my journey to becoming more sustainable), and postcards (itinerary and spending total of places I’ve visited) are special treats for those who decide to upgrade their subscription.

Thank you so much for being here — it means so much to me.

With love,

Beans
