Hi there, I’m Beans! It’s so nice to have you here.
I am a twenty-something year old gal living in Southern California, navigating a journey of financial independence, anti-consumerism, intentional and simple living, and working in academia, all at once. I value honesty, transparency, and vulnerability when I share content on a public platform; therefore, my experiences and thoughts are incredibly personal to me and a result of my upbringing and environment, but never fabricated or over-exaggerated.
I am a proud Swiftie (Speak Now is my era for life), an avid romance novel reader, and a lover of kombucha (or sour sodas). I aspire to have a home with a mid-century modern aesthetic, but also love clean lines and off-white colored wall paint. I am introspective, and have a bad habit of therapizing people who express frustrations in their life. Most importantly, I love writing. I wanted to be a Wattpad-fluencer when I was in middle school, and tried writing my own stories to end up giving up on each plot concept. I was left with 10 unfinished first chapters, and disappointment. But with this Substack, I now have the freedom to talk about myself, my life lessons, and my niche favorites, instead of writing to impress other people.
I currently work in academia as a public health trained researcher, and hope to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology in the near future. I strongly believe scientific research is the cornerstone of technological and health advancement, and while I acknowledge that this is going to be an extremely long and difficult journey, it will be worthwhile.
You will find that this newsletter, Beans’ Musings, is an amalgamation of everything that defines me as a person; whether it be the exciting financial or professional achievements that I want to share, or the sadness and emotional turmoil as a result of a heartbreak or loss of a loved one, this newsletter will contain snippets of my life, advice that I feel qualified to give, and on occasion, guest or collaborative posts with your favorite Instagram accounts, or even responses taken from the Beans community.
Last but not least, I pride myself in not accepting any sponsorships from brands. If you see me promote a product or service, it is safe to assume that I paid for it myself. The only way I make a profit from my social media presence is through my Gumroad templates or if you become a paid subscriber to this newsletter!
Thank you so much for subscribing. Substack will always be my safe space, and I hope it is one for you too.
