my journey to 100k in net worth
7 years later and i finally hit a big financial milestone
this post is to inform and potentially motivate, but not elicit any sort of feeling of comparison between my journey and yours. a week ago, i posted on my instagram story stating that i reached $100K in net worth on a five fig salary. however, there’s more to how i got here outside of living within my means, budgeting, and making more money than i spend.
this post will be broken down into 1) fundamental tips that i found useful (and is applicable to everyone’s situation), 2) my privileges, and 3) living on a 5-figure salary.
fundamental tips
the easiest way to not spend on non-essentials is to put your money into retirement. it is out of sight and out of mind, and more importantly because there is a penalty to withdraw money from a retirement account. i recently increased my retirement contributions for my 403b from 10% to 30%, because i’m trying to max it out for the next year (for the first time).
