how to support a musical artist without destroying your budget
coming from a swiftie who owns zero taylor swift merch or cds/vinyls
The beauty of showcasing art publicly is that we, as the audience, have the opportunity to be immersed in other people’s craft, whether it be their cinematography, voice, or handiwork. For these artists to dedicate their full energy and effort towards their art, they need the support of their fans, and while money is usually involved, there are some ways to still show support if you are on a budget.
This post is not to discourage you from buying merchandise, tickets, or memorabilia if it’s in your budget. If you are comfortable with your spending, then keep doing what you do. If you fall into the category of loving an artist’s work but feel FOMO (fear of missing out) when you see other fans owning merch from every drop, then this post is for you. Even though I will be referencing Taylor Swift throughout this post, as I have been a Swiftie since middle school (2010), these tips can also be applicable to other artists.
